Temporary Landscaping Operatives

Due to an increased operations schedule, we require additional Temporary Landscape Operatives based at our Perth Depot.


The successful applicants will carry out new and general maintenance Landscape work. Preferably you should have previous experience with the necessary skills and qualifications to carry out various Landscaping activities. A full driving licence is desirable but not essential.

1.         Job Purpose:

To assist the Landscape Manager / Working Co-ordinator with the operations of the day to day activities relating to the delivery of routine and cyclic maintenance works.



2.         Responsibilities and Activities:

·                Preparation machinery and equipment for days work.

·                Attend all relevant Toolbox Talks.

·                Day to day reporting of information where necessary.

·                Supervise Roadwork Teams who are under his control and provide them with adequate resources, support clear technical instructions and targets

·                Supervise Sub-Contractors allocated to carry out works

·                Ensuring that they are working with the correct systems, i.e. Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Traffic Layouts, Environmental regulations, etc.

·                Filling in of weekly timesheets and relevant paperwork where required.

·                Report vehicle defects to the Fleet Manager and ensure that accidents/incidents are reported accordingly.

·                Co-operate with senior managers regarding recruitment, sickness absence and disciplinary matters.

·                Ensuring tidiness and good general order of the depot.

·                Participation in emergency response.

·                Any other duties as required. 



3.         Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

·                Experience of Landscape works.

·                Basic knowledge of landscape operations and machinery.

·                Preferably hold a current driving licence. 

·                Ability to develop skills within the department.

·                Ability to carry out basic reporting.

·                Good at working in a team.

·                Working together with other employees in relation to works.

·                Good work ethic.

·                Good attendance rate and arrival times. 

·                Good communication skills.

·                Knowledge of the requirement for Health and Safety rules and procedures.

·                Physically fit for working in sometimes arduous conditions.

·               Ability to problem solve.

·               Flexible to working practices.

·                Ability to cope with change. 

·                Good planning and organisational skills
