An opportunity has arisen to join the Electrical team in the Inverness office as an Assistant Electrical Manager.  The role is permanent and will assist the current Electrical Manager with the management of the maintenance operations and larger projects undertaken by BEAR, as well as working as part of a team delivering electrical/lighting designs.

 

 

 

The successful candidate will have experience in a lighting design/operation environment. They should be educated to a relevant degree and be a member of the Institute of Lighting Professionals.

1.         Job Purpose:

 

§    To assist the Electrical Manager with delivering the company set operational/design objectives.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2.         Responsibilities and Activities:

 

§    Assist in the management of internal performance aspects of the Lighting team.

 

§    Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures that form part of BEAR’s Integrated Management Systems.

 

§    Identify and assign suitable resource to deliver company set objectives for both operations and design requirements.

 

§    Undertake the Designer’s role in accordance with the CDM Regulations. 

 

§    Management of the Design/Checking process and ensure Scheme/Site files are prepared to the appropriate standard.

 

§    To achieve cost effective output that meets specified quality and programme.

 

§    Establish and maintain good relationships with client, customers and other bodies.

 

§    Approving/preparing Scheme files;

o   Statement of Intents

o   Scheme bids

o   Operations Instructions.

o   Health and safety plans

 

§    Managing and monitoring works in progress for in-house and subcontracted projects;

o   Carry out scheme liaison with statutory authorities or other affected parties.

o   Mark out site works and supervise construction where required.

o   Collate scheme files with works records.

o    Assist Measurement Engineer with final valuation.

 

§    As delegated, correspond, liaise, or attend meetings with client, contractors, and customers.

 

§    Assist in maintaining and updating data associated with street lighting and electrical installations.

 

§    Monitoring and recording maintenance operations;

o   Monitoring and updating inspection programmes

o   Recording defects

o   Completing design of reactive operations

 

 

§    Preparing responses to planning applications.

 

§    Preparation of annual programmes.

 

§    Presentations to Transport Scotland and PAG on schemes, programmes and Value for Money.

 

§    Assist with delivery of Winter Maintenance, as required.

 

§    Assist the Electrical Manager, Operating Company Representatives and BEAR Directors as required.

§   Registration Sector Scheme – Approved Person.

 

§   Environmental awareness (relevant legislation, ISO14001).

 

§   DMRB SHW knowledge.

 

§   Highways Act / Roads (Scotland) Act knowledge.

 

§   Traffic Signs Regulations, Manual knowledge.

 

§   Contract Conditions knowledge.

 

§   CDM Regulations incl. designer duties, hazard elimination and management lists, risk assessments.

 

§   Quality Management (GD02/08, ISO9000:2005, NHSS).
