Inspectors & Asset Inspectors

Opportunities have arisen to join the teams in the Perth, Inverness, Corpach and Inveraray offices as an Inspectors and Asset Inspectors.
The Inspectors will carry out a range of inspections on the network to locate and record defects for immediate repair, or for inclusion in routine programmes of repair.
The Asset Inspectors will carry out the asset condition surveys as well as assisting with other inspections on the network to locate and record defects for immediate repair, or for inclusion in routine programmes of repair.
The posts will be both office and site based and will require an elements of out of hours working.  It is essential that you are a team player who is flexible, keen to develop, and committed to ensuring the success of all projects.
A full approved driving licence is essential.

Job Title: Inspector
Job Holder:
Reporting To:   Inspection Team Leader

1.Job Purpose:    
The Inspector will carry out of a range of inspections on the network to locate and record defects for immediate repair or for inclusion in routine programmes of repair.

2.Responsibilities and Activities:
• Undertake weekly inspections and safety patrols.
• Undertake detailed inspections of carriageways and footway.
• Undertake detailed inspections of other trunk road inventory items.
• Undertake ad hoc inspections as instructed by the Inspection Team Leader.
• Undertake NRSWA inspections as instructed by the Inspection Team Leader.
• Liaison with members of the public as required.
• Carry out minor repairs where safe to do so.
• Maintain inspection vehicles and equipment.
• Create Category 1 and Category 2 Operating Instructions from inspection data, design repairs and prepare paperwork required for the safe implementation of the repair in accordance with the CDM Regulations.
• Other duties applicable to the post as directed from time to time by the Inspection Team Leader.

3.Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• Working knowledge of inspection procedures.
• Working knowledge of data capture hardware and software currently in use within the roads maintenance environment.
• Working knowledge of Contract Control and Management System.
• Ability to comply with relevant Health and Safety legislation.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and work under pressure.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems.
• Flexible attitude to working practices.
• Capable of self-management and self-motivation.

Job Title: Asset & Inventory Inspector
Job Holder:
Reporting To: Inspection Team Leader

1. Job Purpose:
The Inventory Inspector will carry out detailed inspection of the trunk road assets, including assess condition, amending and updating inventory items, recording defects to insure that there is a fully accurate database.

2. Responsibilities and Activities:
• Undertake weekly inspections and safety patrols.
• Undertake detailed inspections of carriageways and footways.
• Undertake detailed inspections of other trunk road inventory items.
• Collect and verify roads inventory information.
• Ensure data collected is accurate and meets Transport Scotland’s criteria.
• Reporting of inaccurate assets and faults with the data and software.
• Carry out condition rating inspections.
• Recording and reporting of defects

3.Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• Working knowledge of inspection procedures.
• Working knowledge of data capture hardware and software currently in use within the roads maintenance environment.
• Working knowledge of Contract Control and Management System.
