Cyclic Maintenance Operative

Vacancies have arisen in our Lochgelly depot for Cyclic maintenance operatives.

Preferably you should have knowledge of computers and data collection with the necessary skills to carry out various cyclic maintenance operations, including cyclic inspections, sign cleaning, litter picking, gully cleaning and other general works as required. Training will be provided.

A driving licence is essential, preferably an LGV Class 2 Licence (HGV2), and be prepared to participate in our winter and emergency response service on a standby rota basis.

Job Description

Job Title: Cyclic maintenance operative

Reporting To: Chargehand / Supervisor

1. Job Purpose:
To carry out general cyclic maintenance/inspections and driving duties, (appropriate to licence), as and when required 2. Responsibilities and Activities:

• The erection and removal of temporary signs.
• Cleaning signs and bollards.
• Inspecting inventory on the network.
• General drainage cleaning. (Gully cleaning/Jetting drains)
• Using hand held computer (Tough pad)
• Responsibility for the health and safety of the public, colleagues and yourself
• Participating in standby and winter maintenance rota
• Winter maintenance duties which include fitting blade, driving gritter (licence dependant) and spread salt by hand if required.
• Litter picking
• Any other duties as required

3. Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Good general secondary education
• There is a requirement to undertake training and to achieve competence in aspects of the job
• Knowledge of the requirement for Health & Safety rules and procedures
• Physically fit for working in sometimes arduous conditions
• Experience of using computers
• Holding tickets for plant, traffic management, and Health & Safety an advantage
• Hold a clean driving licence, preferably at LGV Class C level
• Flexible home life for working shifts and emergencies

4. Key Relationships, Internal and External:

Internally: with Supervisor/Works Manager/Chargehand and other employees
Externally: with subcontractors and members of the public
