Bridge Inspector

An opportunity has arisen for a Bridge Inspector to join our team in Perth.

BEAR Scotland manage, maintain and improve over 2000Km of Scotland’s strategic Trunk Road network, through some of the most scenic, but challenging parts of the country.

The North East Bridges team have an opportunity for a Bridge Inspector to join our structures inspection team reporting to the NE Bridges Manager.  To apply for this role, you should have experience inspecting a good variety of highway related structures and of different construction materials.  Ideally the candidate should be a certified Inspector or close to submitting their portfolio for the Bridge Inspector Certification Scheme [BICS] operated by Lantra. 

The successful candidate should be familiar with the programme of Principal and General Inspections undertaken to BD 63/94, Inspection of Highway Structures.

In this role, the Bridge Inspector will be responsible for planning and reporting of their allocated inspections.  You will also work as a team with other Inspectors as a Lead Inspector or assist with other inspections.  The candidate will take a key role within the inspection team including the planning, programming and delivery of inspections including the procurement of inspection equipment, plant and traffic management.   You will be required to undertake ad-hoc, safety and reactive inspections as well as assist with site supervision duties for structures maintenance schemes.

The reporting of inspections and day-to-day duties will require you to use prescribed asset management system and common computer programmes so the candidate should have a good level computer literacy.
