Polmadie Depot13 Jun 2012

BEAR recently commenced work for Transport Scotland carrying out the Phase 1 Infrastructure and Groundworks for a new Strategic Maintenance Depot at the M74 Polmadie. The new depot will be the primary depot for the South West Unit.

The project to regenerate the 35,000m2 site will be carried out in 3 stages – Phase 1 Infrastructure and Groundworks; Phase 2 for the refurbishment of an existing office block on the site and; Phase 3 for the construction of new office blocks and other buildings.

The major civils elements of Phase 1 are being carried out by John Paul Construction as a subcontractor to BEAR and these works consist of creating a new access to the site, drainage (including a SUDS pond), bringing services into the site, bulk earthworks, construction of road and hardstanding areas (approximately 15,000m2 of concrete), footways, block paving car parks and fencing.

BEAR are undertaking the landscaping and street lighting in house with the limited surfacing works being carried out by Aggregate Industries. The entire project is being managed by Jamie Finlayson with support from Chris Maclean as the Project Quantity Surveyor. It is expected that the phase 1 works will be completed during October 2012.
