BEAR Scotland teams are working to carry out a £4M programme of urgent repairs across the North West trunk road network.

A87 Cluanie

Today teams finished surfacing operations after laying a total of 240 tonnes of new road material.

A887 Invermoriston

Teams have made great progress by milling out over 825 tonnes of road surface in preparation for surfacing.

 

Wednesday 16 May

 

A835 South of Garve

Operations have returned to the site at Killin Farm, laying 220 tonnes of new material across five patches.

A87 Cluanie

Works have restarted again today following mechanical issues apparent at the quarry. The team have been able to lay 160 tonnes of new material.

 

Tuesday 15 May

 

A835 Glascarnoch

Operations have continued to remove and install material across multiple patches resulting in 75 tonnes being replaced.

Works have been delayed today with mechanical issues apparent at the quarry. Works due to continue tomorrow subject to the condition of the quarry.

Surfacing has been completed today with a total of an estimated 950 tonnes of material installed across the site.

A85 Rob Roy’s Dip

Today the team have installed 200 tonnes of new material. Surfacing is programmed for completion tomorrow.

Works are progressing well today with 175 tonnes of new material laid.

A828 Culcharan Farm

Operations have completed required resurfacing on site today removing and installing 160 tonnes of material.

A835 Loch Glascarnoch

Works progressed well today with 120 tonnes of new material installed. The project is  to resume on Monday.

 

Wednesday 25 April

 

A835 South of Garve

Operations were able to lay 90 tonnes of material before a mechanical malfunction was encountered at the quarry. Works are to resume tomorrow.

A85 Rob Roy’s Dip

The team was able to remove 400 tonnes of old road material and install 240 tonnes of new surface material.

A87 Cluanie

Operations have laid 250 tonnes of material today. Unfortunately the surface course was unable to be completed today so traffic lights will be left running over night for safety of road users.

 

Tuesday 24 April

 

A835 South of Garve

Operations have started work on the first of three with the team removing and installing 72 tonnes of road surface material.

A85 Rob Roy’s Dip

The team was able to remove 400 tonnes of old material and install 240 tonnes of new surface.

A87 Cluanie

Operations have progressed well today with the team laying 306 tonnes of surface course.

 

Monday 23 April

 

A82 North of Inverherive

Surfacing operations were completed on Saturday with over 1,000 tonnes of new material installed at the A82 North of Inverherive.

A835 Inchbae

Operations have completed surfacing today with a final total of 2,017 tonnes of new material installed. The team will now move on to the A835 South of Garve Site from tomorrow.

A85 Rob Roy’s Dip

Today teams have started removing material from site.

A87 Cluanie

Operations started work today by removing 900 tonnes of old material from site.

A further 290 tonnes of new material has been laid at the A82 North of Inverherive site today. Surfacing is planned to be completed tomorrow.

Operations have removed 285 tonnes of material today. Surfacing works is expected to be completed on Monday.

A82 North of Inverherive

The team have made good progress today with just over 200 tonnes of new material laid at the A82 North of Inverherive site. A further two days of surfacing are planned with works being completed on Saturday 21 April.

A85 West of Inveraray Junction

Works were completed last night with a total of 660 tonnes new material being laid over the course of the scheme. 

A835 Inchbae

Surfacing works were undertaken today with 390 tonnes of new material laid. Tomorrow it is expected that 285 tonne of material will be removed ahead of surfacing operations.

Works on the A82 North of Inverherive site have started today with the team removing 380 tonnes of old material and installing 90 tonnes of new road material.

The team began surfacing works last night removing 270 tonnes of old material and installing 260 tonnes on new material. 

A87 Bee Haven

Works have been postponed today. New programme dates to be released as soon as they are available

Works start on Sunday under an overnight road closure for safety, 9pm to 7am.

Surfacing on the A85 at Crianlarich was completed this morning, with 100 tonnes of new road surface materials installed.

Teams have started to remove the worn out road surface material ready for the start of surfacing operations tomorrow (Friday). 

 

Wednesday 11 April

 

A85 Crianlarich Area

Operations have removed and replaced 80 tonnes of material. Surfacing at the A85 site is due for completion tomorrow. Work will then begin on the A82 South of Inverherive site.

Work progressed well today with 40 tonnes of new material laid at Inverarnan.

Work was cancelled today due to forecasted inclement weather. Work recommences on Friday.

Today saw good progress on site with further deteriorated sections removed, in preparation for resurfacing. Works are programmed to continue tomorrow.

A9 Drumochter (Wade Stone)

Operations have been postponed for the remainder of the week, due to forecasted inclement weather.

A82 Fort William to Torlundy

Following an onsite inspection this morning, work was cancelled. An inspection will be carried out tomorrow to decide if work can progress.

A82 Ardlui to Falls of Falloch

Following an onsite inspection this morning, work has been postponed today. Work has been cancelled for the remainder of this week due to the forecasted inclement weather. Operations will recommence Monday morning at Inverarnan.

A87 Druim na Cleochd

Following an onsite inspection this morning, work was cancelled. Work is also cancelled tomorrow due to forecasted inclement weather. Forecasts will be reviewed and updates issued, should work be feasible on Friday.

Good progress today with a further 440 tonnes of material removed from the site. Work is programmed to continue tomorrow, subject to an onsite inspection tomorrow morning.

Today’s work saw 160 tonnes of new material laid. Work is programmed to continue on site tomorrow.

A9 Drumochter (Wade Stone)

Today’s milling operations have seen around 800 tonnes of material removed from the site. Tomorrow and Thursday’s operations have been postponed due to forecasted inclement weather.

Work commenced on site today with 277 tonnes of material removed and 34 tonnes of new material laid. Work continues tomorrow under the same traffic management system. Motorists are advised to expect delays.

A82 Ardlui to Falls of Falloch

Work commenced on site today with 170 tonnes of material removed and 170 tonnes of new material laid. Work will continue at Inverarnan tomorrow, subject to an onsite inspection tomorrow morning

A87 Druim na Cleochd

A total of 470 tonnes of material has been removed today. With a further 470 tonnes expected to be removed tomorrow. Tomorrow’s work on site has been postponed due to forecasted inclement weather.

Today’s work involved removal of approximately of 500 tonnes of material. 

A82 Fort William to Torlundy

Works resumed last night and saw 197 tonnes of new material laid at the Morbaine site. Operations switched to Nevis Bridge at midnight with resurfacing completed by 3:15am. Operations will continue at the Morbaine site this evening with convoy working in place from 7pm – 7am.

A84 South of Strathyre

Resurfacing works completed today.

A830 Criche Bridge

Works progressed well today as 148 tonnes of new material laid. 

A887 West of Achlain

Today has seen a total of 230 tonnes of surface course being laid.

 

Tuesday 20 February

 

A9 Spittal to Georgemas

Works continued to make good progress as binder has been laid across the 500m across both lanes of the carriageway with an estimated 400 tonnes of material laid.

A82 Fort William to Torlundy

Due to a mechanical issue with our contractor’s plant, resurfacing works on Nevis Bridge were not completed last night. Work is programmed for completion overnight tonight. Unfortunately this will require a road closure for part of the night in order to facilitate. To reduce the impact on motorists, working hours have been reduced to 10pm – 2am. Hourly amnesties will remain in operation to allow traffic to flush as frequently as possible. The subsequent work phases remain unchanged and will be carried out as planned.

A84 South of Strathyre

The works have progressed well with 260 tonnes of material removed and 168 tonnes of new material laid.

A830 Criche Bridge

Works have started with the first layer of the new material laid today.

A887 West of Achlain

Work has progressed well today with 180 tonnes of new material being laid.

Works commenced on site today with 500m of road surface removed in preparation for surfacing tomorrow.

A82 Fort William to Torlundy

Due to adverse weather, resurfacing works on Nevis Bridge were not completed last night. Work is programmed for completion overnight tonight. Unfortunately this will require a road closure for part of the night in order to facilitate. To reduce the impact on motorists, working hours have been reduced to 10pm – 2am. Resurfacing works have progressed well today, with 160tonnes of new surfacing material laid. Works will recommence on Monday 19 February.

A887 West of Achlain 

Unfortunately due to overnight snowfall, surfacing and milling operations were halted. Works are due to resume on Monday 19 February.

A889 Cathar Mor

Unfortunately due to forecasted inclement weather, surfacing operations will not be completed this week. Work will recommence for one day on Monday 19 February under a full road closure, 7am – 7pm.

Works have continued today and are expected to be completed by next Wednesday, weather permitting.  Planing works have been carried out, meaning motorists a running on a temporary road surface.  A reduced speed limit of 30mph is in place for safety until resurfacing is completed.  

A85 Connel Village

Final night of resurfacing was completed last night, application of white lines is expected to take place on Monday.  

A887 West of Achlain

Unfortunately works have been cancelled today and tomorrow due to overnight snowfall and inclement weather.  Planing works have been carried out, meaning motorists a running on a temporary road surface.  A reduced speed limit of 30mph is in place for safety until resurfacing is completed.  

A889 Cathar Mor

Unfortunately works were cancelled today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) due to further adverse weather conditions. Resurfacing will hopefully be undertaken on Monday, weather permitting, under a full road closure for safety, 7am to 7pm.  Planing works have been carried out, meaning motorists a running on a temporary road surface.  A reduced speed limit of 30mph is in place for safety until resurfacing is completed.

Heavy rain prevented operations from continuing, work programmed to continue this week. 

A85 Connel Village

Nearly 200 tonnes of new road surface material was laid overnight, with works provisionally set to be completed tonight.  

A887 West of Achlain

Unfortunately surfacing and milling operations were halted due to the adverse weather conditions.

A889 Cathar Mor

Final section of resurfacing has been delayed due to weather conditions, set to be completed this week.
