April 25, 2024

  • Overnight lane closures for three weeks, commencing 29 April 2023

Trunk road operating company BEAR Scotland is conducting a drainage investigation on 6,000 metres of the westbound A720 Edinburgh City Bypass between Lothianburn and Baberton Junctions, in an investment by Transport Scotland worth £200,000.

The works will begin on Monday 29 April and are expected to continue for three weeks. Work will take place on Monday to Friday nights between 20:30 and 06:00, when the hard shoulder and lane one on this section of the A720 westbound will be closed for safety.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “This investigation into the surface water drainage system on the A720 will help us to plan works to mitigate future flooding events and environmental changes, improving safety for road users.

“We’ll do all we can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible and thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding.”
