JOINT REPAIRS ON BRIDGE CARRYING A84 OVER M9

April 9, 2024

  • Overnight closure of A84 in both directions 22 April 2024

The bridge carrying the A84 trunk road over the M9 motorway at Junction 10 Craigforth will be closed for essential repairs on the night of Monday 22 April.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the work on joints in the carriageway between the hours of 22:30 and 06:00.

Signed diversion routes for traffic using the A84 will be in place:

  • Road users heading east on the A84 will be diverted onto the M9 northbound to turn at Junction 11 Keir Roundabout, returning southbound to exit via the Junction 10 off-slip. This diversion will add approximately 6 miles and 7 minutes to affected journeys.
  • Road users heading west on the A84 will be diverted onto the M9 southbound to turn at Junction 9 Pirnhall, returning northbound to join the A84 via the Junction 10 off-slip. This diversion will add approximately 10 miles and 11 minutes to affected journeys.

A separate diversion route for traffic not permitted to use the motorway will be signposted via the A84, the A811 and the B8075.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times and traffic on the M9 will not be affected.

The footway across the bridge will remain open.

Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the works.

David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “It is essential for safety that we close the bridge carrying the A84 while we repair damaged joints in the carriageway.

“We understand that this will be disruptive and have planned the works to take place at night when traffic flows are lower to reduce the impact.

“We thank road users and the local community for their patience and understanding.”
