Please be advised that the surfacing improvements on the A96 east of Bainshole near Huntly have been postponed by one week and are now scheduled to begin on Tuesday 8 February.
Works were scheduled to begin at 7pm on Tuesday 1 February, however due to operational reasons, the improvements are now scheduled to begin on Tuesday 8 February. Works are now expected to be completed by 6am on Friday 11 February.
The traffic management will remain the same as originally programmed, with temporary traffic signals with a 10mph convoy system in place during working hours. The convoy system will be removed outwith working hours, however due to the nature of the works, the temporary traffic lights will be left in place during the day.
All relevant stakeholders have been informed of the changes.

A section of the A96 east of Bainshole near Huntly is to benefit from surfacing improvements worth £127,000 with works set to get underway Tuesday 1 February at 7pm.
The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the A96 east of Bainshole, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.
The project is scheduled to start on Tuesday 1 February and is programmed to take place over three nights. The works will be carried out between 7pm and 6am each night, with the project due to be completed by 6am on Friday 4 February, subject to weather conditions.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, temporary traffic signals with a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. The convoy system will be removed outwith working hours, however due to the nature of the works, the temporary traffic lights will remain in place during the day.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This surfacing project East of Bainshole has been designed to improve the general condition and safety of this section of the A96 for motorists.
“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of both roadworkers and motorists. Regrettably there will be some delays, but our teams will do all they can to complete the scheme as safely and quickly as possible.
“We thank motorists for the patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A96. We encourage them to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
