Essential surfacing improvements are set to be carried out at the A835 Rogie to Tarvie, located north of Contin.
The £140,000 investment by Transport Scotland, which will see a 423m stretch of carriageway resurfaced, will ensure the A835 continues to operate safely for years to come.
Starting on Sunday 11th December, the works will take place between 8pm and 6am for 3 nights.
Due to narrow carriageway widths, there will be a full A835 road closure to protect roadworkers and motorists. As there is no suitable diversion route for this section of the A835, vehicles will be held at either side of the work site until they can be escorted through the area safely during amnesty periods (when work is suspended) at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12am, 2am and 4am. The A835 will be open outwith working hours to keep disruption to a minimum, with a speed restriction of 30mph in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface. Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times. The works will be completed by 6am on Wednesday 14th December, weather dependant.
Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This surfacing project on the A835 will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for motorists.
“The overnight closure is essential for the safety of road workers and motorists due to the narrow width of the road at the location. We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project by carrying out the work overnight and by providing amnesty periods for traffic to pass.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these works. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
Consultation has been undertaken with local residents, businesses, the local authority and emergency services to make them aware of the works and the traffic management arrangements that will be in place.
Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.trafficscotland.org, twitter at @trafficscotland or the new mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.
Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
