£165,000 OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS, A9 GLENEAGLES JUNCTION AND SOUTHBOUND ON-SLIP

October 21, 2021

Works start Sunday 24 October for five nights

Surfacing improvements are set to get underway on a section of the A9 southbound near Gleneagles on Sunday 24 October at 7.30pm.

The overnight improvements will address defects in the road surface on the southbound section of the A9 on-slip at the A823 Loaninghead grade separated junction, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The overnight works are scheduled to begin on Sunday 24 October and are expected to take five nights to complete. The project will take place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night with all works due to be completed by 6.30am on Friday 29 October, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, a single lane closure will be in place on the A9 southbound and the on-slip from the A823 will be closed with all traffic being diverted northbound to Broxden Roundabout and back southbound along the A9. All traffic management will be removed during the daytime.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “The planned surfacing improvements on this section of the A9 at Gleneagles will address defects and greatly improve the condition of the carriageway at this location for road users.

“The traffic management proposed is essential to ensure the safety of our teams and road users alike, however we have taken steps to minimise disruption as much as possible by carrying out the work at night.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A9. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”

Real-time journey planning information can be obtained by visiting www.trafficscotland.org, twitter at @trafficscotland or via the new mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
