The M90 Junction 3 northbound on-slip is set to benefit from surfacing improvements worth £185,000, with works expected to get underway on Friday 25 February at 7.30pm
The improvements will address defects in the surface on the northbound on-slip of the Halbeath Interchange, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.
The project is scheduled to begin on Friday 25 February at 7.30pm with works programmed to take place consecutively where possible. All works are expected to be completed by Monday 28 February at 6am.
To ensure all roadworkers as well as motorists are kept safe throughout the project, from 7.30pm on Friday 25 February there will be a 24-hour closure of the northbound on-slip. Traffic will be diverted to Junction 1c and back up the M90 northbound. In addition, a nearside lane closure will be in place on the M90 northbound carriageway, and the outer ring of the Halbeath Roundabout will be closed until Monday 28 February.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the road improvements to make them aware of the traffic management.
Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This £185,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen junction three on the northbound on slip of the M90, creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists.
“The traffic management that we have programmed is essential for ensuring the safety of motorists and road users. Regrettably there will be some disruption to traffic due to the traffic management requiring to remain in place continuously, however teams will work as quicky and safely as possible to complete the works.
“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the M90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
