A section of the A90 north and southbound is set to benefit from resurfacing improvements worth £20,000, with work set to get underway on Thursday 7 April at 7.30pm.
The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the northbound and southbound section of the A90 at the Inchbare/Dun Junction crossovers just south of Stracathro, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.
The project is expected to get underway on Thursday 7 April at 7.30pm for one night, with works taking place between 7.30pm and 6am. All works are expected to be complete by 6am on Friday 8 April, subject to weather conditions.
To ensure all roadworkers as well as motorists are kept safe throughout the works, there will be lane closures on both the A90 northbound and southbound carriageway. The Inchbare/Dun Junction crossover points will also be closed during working hours. Traffic wishing to travel to Dun will be diverted from the A90 northbound to Stracathro Junction and then to the A90 southbound into Dun. Traffic wishing to travel to Inchbare will be diverted from the A90 southbound to Keithock Junction and then onto the A90 northbound into Inchbare.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This £20,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.
“We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including carrying out the works under a night time closure to keep the traffic moving and by conducting the works over one night.
“We thank motorists for their patience while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
Real-time journey planning information can be obtained by visiting www.trafficscotland.org, twitter at @trafficscotland or via the mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.
Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
