£255,000 OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR A90 NORTHBOUND BETWEEN LONGFORGAN AND BENVIE/FOWLIS JUNCTION

March 17, 2022

Works start Monday 21 March for five nights

A section of the A90 northbound between Dundee and Perth is to benefit from surfacing improvements worth £255,000, with work set to get underway on Monday 21 March.

The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the northbound section of the A90 near Longforgan, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is expected to get underway on Monday 21 March and is programmed to take place between 7.30pm and 6.30am across five nights. All works are expected to be completed by Saturday 26 March at 6.30am.

To ensure all roadworkers as well as motorists are kept safe throughout the works, there will be lane closure with temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system in place between Longforgan and Benvie/Fowlis Junction during working hours. All traffic management will be removed during the daytime.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This £255,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“The traffic management is essential in ensuring safety for roadworkers as well as motorists, however we have taken steps to minimise disruption by carrying out the works overnight and removing the traffic management during the day to help minimise disruption.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
