Seven nights of work are set to take place on the A828 Connel Bridge, five miles northeast of Oban, starting Thursday 5 October 2023.
BEAR Scotland – Transport Scotland’s operating company – will carry out a scheduled inspection and street lighting works on the bridge’s masonry approach viaducts.
The traffic management will be put in place throughout the works, with 30-minute bridge closures at 30-minute intervals, between the hours of midnight and 05:30.
It is recommended that road users avoid travelling during this time, if possible, to avoid being delayed.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Emergency vehicles will be given on-demand access across the bridge, and pedestrians will be able to cross the bridge at all times.
It is inevitable there will be some disruption to road users, however, every effort will be made to minimise any inconvenience caused.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said, “These works are essential for the maintenance of Connel Bridge, and will improve safety and road quality for all. We have planned for these works to take place overnight and with short duration closures to minimise disruption to road users and thank them in advance for their patience.”
