Monday 18 January
Please be advised that the overnight road closures planned for the A82 between Fort William and North Ballachulish outlined in the release below, will now begin tomorrow night.
A series of overnight closures had been programmed to start last night, Sunday 17 January. However, given the adverse weather experienced in the last week, these works have been re-programmed to begin on Tuesday 19 January and will be completed by Wednesday 27 January, subject to weather conditions.
The project is now programmed as follows:
Due to the narrow carriageway widths at this location on the A82, work will be undertaken using a full overnight road closure will be implemented for safety reasons between 7pm and 5am. As there is no suitable diversion route available, amnesties will be provided at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 1am and 3am each night. During these times vehicles will be safely escorted through the site under a 10mph convoy traffic management system. Motorists are encouraged to arrive in good time to ensure they are accommodated within the amnesty period.
All relevant stakeholders have been advised of the revised dates for these surfacing works and the programme to completion.
Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government Covid-19 guidance, will be in force to protect teams and ensure they remain safe at all times.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This surfacing project on the A82 between Corran and Druimarbin will address any defects and greatly improve the condition of the road for motorists.
“The overnight closures in the second week of the work are necessary in order to protect road workers and motorists given the narrow road width present. We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project by carrying out the work overnight and avoiding working on Friday and Saturday nights.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
