A section of the A90 North is set to benefit from surfacing improvements worth £330,000.
The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the northbound section of the A90 at AM Phillips Garage, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.
From Monday 25 July until Saturday 30 July, 19:30pm to 06:30am each night; there will be lane closures with traffic signals and a convoy operating a 10mph speed limit in place at the AM Phillips Garage. The central reservation crossover will be closed each night. Northbound traffic will be diverted via Gateside slips and back down the A90 South. Southbound traffic will be diverted via Emmock Roundabout and back up the A90 North.
Additionally, during the works to resurface Lane 1, a lane closure will be required throughout the day, with all traffic running in Lane 2 at a reduced speed of 50mph. Access to AM Phillips will remain open throughout
All works will be complete, and all traffic management removed by Saturday 30 July at 06:00am.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This £330,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.
“We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements by carrying out the works at night. Regrettably, due to the depth of the resurfacing in Lane 1 the traffic management will be kept on during the day for this phase, so some delays are possible.
“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
