Motorists using a section of the A9 southbound near Perth are to benefit from an improved road surface as a surfacing improvements project worth £335,000 is set to get underway from Thursday 10 February at 7.30pm.
The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the southbound section of the A9 between Crossgates Junction and Burnside Lodge, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.
Following preparty temporary traffic management operations the surfacing is scheduled to get underway from 7.30pm on Friday 11 February and is planned to take place over one weekend with operations programmed where possible to take place consecutively. The improvements are expected to be completed by 6.30am on Monday 14 February, subject to weather conditions. To allow this project to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner restrictions will be required on the network as follows:
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This latest £335,000 investment from Transport Scotland will allow us to carry out maintenance works on this section of the A9 to ensure our network continues to operate at the highest standard.
“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of road workers and motorists during the project. To help minimise delays as much as possible, we’ve planned the improvements to take place over one weekend with operations programmed consecutively where possible, and our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.
“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A9.
