Overnight road closure in place Sunday 13 June, 7.30pm – 6.30am, with a signed diversion in place for safety

The A95 at Craigellachie is set to benefit from surfacing improvements worth £35,000 with work set to take place on Sunday night.

The project will involve teams carrying out essential surfacing improvements to ensure the integrity and safety of the trunk road network at this location.

The improvements are scheduled to take place overnight on Sunday 13 June between 7.30pm and 6.30am.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the A95 will be closed from the A95/B9103 Junction to the A95/A941 Junction. A signed diversion will be in place from the A95/B9103 Junction at Mulben through Boat O Brig/Kirkhill/Rothes and then onto the A941 to the A95 at Craigellachie Junction.

Local access will be maintained where possible.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government Covid-19 guidance, will be in place to ensure all site personnel remain safe once the project gets underway.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This £35,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A95, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“The overnight road closure is essential to the safety of roadworkers and motorists however we’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project by carrying out the works overnight.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we work on this project. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled adopting Scottish Environment Project Agency (SEPA) approved construction methods and disposal of waste materials to the approved standards.
