A section of the A96 at the eastbound approach to Broomhill Roundabout is to benefit from surfacing and drainage improvements with work set to get underway on Sunday 20 February at 7pm.
The £360,000 investment from Transport Scotland will address defects in the road surface on the A96 at Broomhill Roundabout eastbound creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists. The scheme will also see the replacement of the verge side filter drain material to improve the removal of surface water from the carriageway.
The project is expected to get underway on Sunday 20 February and is programmed to take place over two weeks. The improvements will be carried out between 7pm and 6am each night, with works due to be completed by 6am on Friday 4 March, subject to weather conditions.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, The following traffic management will be in place:
Phase One of the works will be focused on the surfacing between Tavelty on slip and Kintore off slip. During the night-time surfacing operations to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, a nearside lane closure and 10mph convoy system will be in operation during working hours. The daytime drainage operations will take place under a nearside lane closure.
Phase 2 of the works will be focused on the surfacing between the Kintore off slip and the B994 Overbridge. During the night-time surfacing operations to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, a nearside lane closure and 10mph convoy system will be in operation during working hours. In addition, the Kintore off-slip will also be closed continuously. A signed diversion will be in place via Broomhill Roundabout, the B987 and onto the B977. The daytime drainage operations will take place under a nearside lane closure.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of both roadworkers and motorists. Regrettably there will be some delays, but our teams will do all they can to complete the scheme as safely and quickly as possible.
