£40,000 OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR M90 KELTY SOUTHBOUND ON-SLIP

January 24, 2022

Works start Thursday 27 January for two nights

Motorists using a section of the M90 at Kelty are to benefit from an improved road surface as surfacing improvements worth £40,000 are set to get underway from Thursday 27 January at 7.30pm.

The improvements will address defects on the M90 Kelty southbound on-slip, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to begin on Thursday 27 January and will take place over two nights, with works taking place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night. All work is expected to be completed by 6.30am on Saturday 29 January, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of all roadworkers as well as motorists throughout the project, the Kelty southbound on-slip will be closed overnight. Traffic will be diverted to the Junction 5 Interchange of the M90. A single lane closure will also be in place on Cocklaw Street to accommodate works access.

All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This £40,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the M90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements by carrying out the project overnight, however we’ll do all we can to ensure that this project is completed as quickly and as safely as possible.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the M90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
