£470,000 SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR A82 NORTH OF DRUMNADROCHIT

July 11, 2024

  • Works to begin on Wednesday 17 July.

  • Overnight road closures with amnesties in place.

On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland will be carrying out essential surfacing improvements on the A82 just North of Drumnadrochit with works set to get underway on Wednesday 17 July.

The project will see a section of the A82 resurfaced north of Drumnadrochit between Drumnadrochit and Inverness, creating a smoother and safer road for road users.

Due to the nature of the works, it will be necessary to close the A82 just north of Drumnadrochit for a total of five nights from 8pm on Wednesday 17 July until 6am on Friday 19 July then again on Sunday 21 July at 8pm until 6am on Wednesday 24 July. No works will be carried out on Friday and Saturday nights and the road will remain open over the weekend.

In order to ensure the safety of members of the public and BEAR Scotland’s workforce, the road will be closed each night with amnesties in place at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12am, 2am and 4am. The road will reopen at 6am each day.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “These maintenance works on the A82 north of Drumnadrochit will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for road users.

“The overnight closures are essential to ensure the safety of workers and road users.

“We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project. We encourage road users to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
