Three sections of the A83 in Campbeltown are set to benefit from an improved road surface with work set to get underway this week.
The project will see over 1km of the A83 through Campbeltown resurfaced, creating a safer and smoother journey for road users.
The project is programmed to begin on Tuesday 3 August and is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete, subject to weather conditions. The resurfacing works will take place between 7pm and 5am with no work planned on Friday or Saturday nights.
To help ensure the project can take place safely at each location, a series of restrictions including overnight road closures will be in place at two locations when the work is taking place. Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times. The schedule of work is as follows:
To allow the surfacing work to be carried out safely on the northbound lanes, a contraflow system will be in place on the southbound section with one lane of traffic flowing in each direction. Parking on Hall Street will be suspended during this period to allow the work to take place.
A road closure will be in place between 7pm and 5am each night. Amnesty periods will be provided at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, midnight, 2am and 4am to allow any waiting traffic to be safely convoyed through the area. Motorists are encouraged to arrive in advance of these times to ensure they can be accommodated by the convoys.

The A83 will remain open during the daytime to keep disruption to a minimum, with a temporary 30mph speed limit remaining in place where appropriate, as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.
Emergency services will be able to pass through the works at all times. Local access for residents and scheduled bus services will be maintained as far as reasonably practicable.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to make them aware of the plans and share information about the project in advance.
Strict physical distancing protocols, in accordance with Scottish Government COVID-19 guidance, will be implemented to protect operatives, such that they remain safe at all times.
