August 8, 2024

  • Investigation works start from Sunday 15 September, 8pm to 6am

  • Road closure in place Sunday to Tuesday with amnesties under convoy

  • Traffic lights on Wednesday and Thursday nights

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland will be carrying out essential drainage investigation works at Lochearnhead on the A85, with works planned to commence at 8pm on Sunday 15 September for five nights.

The investigation works will be undertaken between 8pm and 6am each night with work due to be completed by 6am on Friday 20 September.

Due to the nature of the works and restricted road widths, and to ensure the safety of our workforce and members of the public, this section of the A85 will be closed in both directions each night for the duration of the investigations.

Between Sunday 15 September and Tuesday 17 September, amnesties will be provided hourly at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12am, 1am, 2am, 3am, 4am and 5am to allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site safely under a convoy traffic management system.

On Wednesday 18 September and Thursday 19 September, traffic lights will be in place to control traffic through the work site.

It may also be necessary to close the footway in Lochearnhead at times. During these periods, pedestrians will be escorted through the site to ensure their safety.

Premises owners and residents within the closure area will still be able to enter and exit during the works, although there may be times when this is restricted for a short period due to the nature of the works and to ensure the safety of our workforce and members of the public.

Access through the worksite for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times and traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s Northwest Unit Representative said; “These drainage investigation works will provide valuable information regarding the condition of the current drainage assets as well as clearing any blockages found within the drainage system. This will hopefully help alleviate current levels of flooding allow us to identify the need for any further improvements.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these works.

“We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
