Motorists using the A9 northbound near Inveralmond Roundabout in Perth are to benefit from an improved road surface with works on the carriageway set to get underway next week.
The £50,000 project will see improvements to a section of the A9 northbound dual carriageway, immediately north of Inveralmond Roundabout, improving safety and ride comfort for road users.
Overnight improvements are set to begin on Monday 19 July and are expected to take two nights to complete. The works will take place between 8pm and 6am each night and are due to be completed by 6am Wednesday 21 July, subject to weather conditions.
To keep roadworkers and road users safe during the project, a 10mph convoy system will be in place over the extent of the site during working hours. A single lane closure will also be in place on each approach to Inveralmond Roundabout as well as on the roundabout itself.
Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours, however a 30mph speed limit and warning signs will be in place as vehicles will be travelling over a temporary surface.
Strict physical distancing protocols, in accordance with Scottish Government COVID-19 guidance, will be implemented to protect the operatives that are undertaking the works.
Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “These essential resurfacing works on the northbound carriageway of the A9 just north of Inveralmond Roundabout will greatly improve quality and safety on this section of the route.
“The traffic management required may result in some disruption and delays for road users when works are being undertaken during the evening and overnight period, however use of a convoy system is essential to ensure the safety of our teams and road users. Works have been planned to take place overnight to help minimise disruption as much as possible.
“We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
