£600,000 SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR A90 STRACATHRO TO NORTH WATER BRIDGE

June 1, 2022

Works start overnight from Monday 13 June for two weeks

A section of the A90 northbound is set to benefit from surfacing improvements worth £600,000, with works set to get underway on Monday 13 June.

The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the northbound section of the A90 between Stracathro and North Water Bridge, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to begin on Monday 13 June and is expected to take place over two weeks. Works are planned to take place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night. All works are expected to be complete by Monday 27 June, with no works taking place on Friday or Saturday nights, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, there will be lane closures with temporary traffic signals and a 10mph convoy in place on the A90 northbound during working hours. A lane closure will remain in place outwith working hours with a 50mph speed restriction.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This £600,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including carrying out the works at night to keep the traffic moving.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
