A section of the A90 northbound south of Forfar is to benefit from surfacing improvements worth £610,000, with works due to get underway from Sunday 16 January at 7.30pm.
The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the northbound section of the A90 between North Mains of Invereighty and Newlands Junction, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.
The project is scheduled to start on Sunday 16 January with the setting up of traffic management, with the main surfacing work taking place over five days, with operations programmed where possible to take place consecutively. All improvements are expected to be completed by 6.30am on Saturday 22 January, subject to weather conditions. To allow this project to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner restrictions will be required on the network as follows:
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This £610,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.
“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists during this project. To help minimise delays as much as possible, we’ve planned the improvements to be carried out using 24-hour working, and our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.
“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
