Motorists using a section of the A92 at Portlethen are to benefit from an improved road surface as surfacing improvements worth £75,000 are set to get underway from Tuesday 18 January at 7.30pm.
The improvements will address defects on the A92 Portlethen northbound off-slip, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.
The project is scheduled to begin on Tuesday 18 of January and will take place over four nights, with works taking place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night. All work is expected to be completed by 6.30am on Saturday 22 January, subject to weather conditions.
To ensure all roadworkers as well as motorists are kept safe throughout the project, the northbound slip road will have to be closed for the duration of the project. A signed diversion route will be in place via the A92 Hillside Junction off-slip, then back down the A92 southbound to the Portlethen Junction. To allow teams to safely carry out the works, a lane closure will also be required on the northbound carriageway. Due to the nature of these works, traffic management will remain in place outwith working hours.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: “This £75,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A92 at Portlethen, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.
“Due to the nature of the works the traffic management will need to stay in place throughout the project and regrettably there will be some disruption to traffic although a signed diversion will be in place.
“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A92. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
Real-time journey planning information can be obtained by visiting www.trafficscotland.org, twitter at @trafficscotland or via the new mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.
Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
