A section of the M90 between A9 Broxden Roundabout and M90 Craigend Interchange is set to benefit from £80,000 worth of essential maintenance works.
As part of a project to undertake maintenance on the M90 Necessity Brae bridge, which carries the M90 over the B9112, a new crossover point will be constructed, and an existing crossover point will be extended between Broxden and Craigend.
This initial phase of the project is scheduled to begin on Friday 4 March with works scheduled to take place over two weekends and at night to limit disruption. The programme of works is as follows:
For the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, single lane closures on northbound and southbound carriageway will be in place between 7.30pm on Friday 4 March until 6.30am on Monday 7 March. Overnight lane closures will then be required to be in place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night from Monday 7 March until Wednesday 9 March.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, single lane closures on northbound and southbound carriageway will be in place between 7.30pm on Friday 25 March until 6.30am on Monday 28 March. Overnight lane closures will then be required to be in place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night from Monday 28 March until Wednesday 30 March.
Consultation has taken place with stakeholders in advance of the crossover improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements. The project will not impact traffic management arrangement that are in place for the ongoing surfacing improvements on the M90 and A90 near Barnhill.
Commenting on the project, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: “The proposed maintenance crossover upgrades at M90 Necessity Brae are required to allow contraflow operations to be implemented during the future maintenance of the M90 Necessity Brae overbridge. The next phase of the project will include repairs to the bridge deck and replacement of the joints.”
“The traffic management arrangements are essential for ensuring the safety of roadworkers and motorists, however our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can.
“We would encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
