BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s trunk road operating company, is set to start essential road improvement works on the A9 northbound dual carriageway near Trinafour, south of Drumochter Pass, beginning on the night of Sunday 3 September 2023 and spanning over ten nights.
Scope of Work and Schedule
The project involves comprehensive carriageway upgrades at this key section of the A9, aimed at enhancing road safety and conditions for motorists. These upgrades will cover a total of 1km on the northbound A9, in two phases: River Garry and North of Trinafour Junction, both on the northbound dual carriageway. (See plan below)
The improvement works are scheduled to be completed by 6am on Friday 15 September 2023. There will be no works on Friday or Saturday nights.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
