The A1 in East Lothian is set to benefit from an improved road surface, with 23 nights of resurfacing works scheduled between 8 November and 9 December 2022.
The works will see Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland resurface a combined 4,287 metres of carriageway, creating smoother and safer journeys for motorists.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and the public during these works, the following overnight closures will be in place between 19:30 and 06:00 each night:
Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times.
Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These resurfacing improvements on the A1 in East Lothian represent a significant investment by Transport Scotland to ensure smoother and safer journeys for motorists.
“We’re fortunate that there are convenient diversion routes along this stretch of the trunk road, so we don’t expect these works to cause significant delays. If you do need to travel on these nights, our advice is to allow a couple of extra minutes for your journey.
“We’re grateful to road users and local communities for their patience and understanding while we complete these improvements.”
