Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is to carry out investigation works on a one-kilometre section of the A1 trunk road south of Cockburnspath Roundabout, in preparation for resurfacing works to be completed later in 2023.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and the public during these works, the A1 will be closed South of Cockburnspath Roundabout between 19:30 and 06:00 on the night of Tuesday 13 June.
A signed diversion route will be in place via Edinburgh Road through Cocksburnpath, adding approximately 0.3 miles and one minute to affected journeys.
Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These investigation works are essential in preparation for resurfacing planned for later in the year.
“If you need to travel on this section of the A1 on the night of 13 June, our advice is to plan ahead and allow a few extra minutes for your journey.”
Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland at www.traffic.gov.scot or on Twitter at @trafficscotland.
Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
