A1 RESURFACING SOUTH OF BURNMOUTH

October 31, 2024

UPDATE 7 February 2025: Following earlier postponement due to weather, these works have now been rescheduled for the night of Thursday 13 February. Temporary traffic lights will also be in place on the night of Friday 14 February, to complete road markings.

  • Overnight road closure Thursday 13 February 2025

The A1 south of Burnmouth is set to benefit from an improved road surface, with one night of resurfacing works scheduled for Thursday 13 February.

The works will see Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland resurface approximately 105 metres of carriageway on the A1 between Burnmouth and Greystonelees Junction, creating smoother and safer journeys for motorists.

To ensure the safety of road users and the workforce, the A1 will be closed at this location between 19:30 and 06:00 on the night of Thursday 13 February.

A signed diversion route will be in place between Ayton Junction and the Berwick-upon-Tweed Bypass, via the A6355 and A6105. This diversion will add approximately 9.2 miles and 15 minutes to affected journeys.

Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times and local access for residents within the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through the work area.

Relevant stakeholders including emergency services have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
