Resurfacing works on the A1 near Innerwick have been rescheduled. The works will now take place over five nights on 27-30 September and 3 October, requiring road closures in both directions.
The works will see Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland resurface 1km of the southbound carriageway and, in addition to previously advertised works, they will also include repairs to a section of the northbound carriageway.
The A1 at Innerwick will therefore be closed in both directions between 19:30 and 06:00 on the nights of 27, 28, 29, 30 September and 3 October.
During the works, a signed diversion route will be in place between Old Craighall Junction and the Berwick-upon-Tweed bypass, via the A720, A68, A697 and A6105.
Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times and local access for residents within the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through the work area.
Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve safety and ride quality for motorists using this section of the A1.
“Road closures are essential for safety, however we’ve scheduled them to take place overnight to minimise disruption.
“We’re grateful to road users and the local community for their patience and understanding.”
