Overnight lane closures will be in place on the A68 near to Salters Road Junction, beginning on the night of Monday 5 June and continuing until Wednesday 28 June.
This is to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to carry out drainage improvement works.
One lane of the A68 will be closed from Salters Road Junction to the B6414 overpass from 19:30 until 06:30 each night from 5 to 28 June.
Two-way traffic lights will then be in place between Millerhill Junction and the Salters Road Junction from 19:30 until 06:30 each night from 29 June to 14 July.
The works will conclude with five overnight full road closures on the A68 between Fordel Mains Junction and Millerhill Junction, between 19:30 and 06:30 each night from 17 to 21 July. A signed diversion route will be in place between Millerhill Junction on the A720 and Fordel Mains Junction on the A68, via Sheriffhall Junction and the A6106. Additional diversion signage will also be in place on the A6094 with the closure of the A68 slip roads at Salters Road Junction.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s Southeast Network Manager, said: “These improvement works will enhance drainage on this stretch of the A68, improving safety for motorists using the trunk road.
“Lane closures and full road closures are essential to allow our operatives to carry out the improvements safely, however we’ve scheduled the works overnight to minimise any disruption.
“We thank road users and local communities in advance for their patience.”
