The A68 will be closed for drainage investigation works in both directions between Salters Road Junction and Pathhead, on four nights from 27 to 30 January 2025.
Closures will be in place between 19:30 and 06:30 each night. A diversion route will be signposted between Salters Road Junction and Pathhead, via the A6094 through Dalkeith, the A6106, Whitehill Road, Edgehead Road and Ford Road. This diversion will add approximately 2.4 miles and 12 minutes to affected journeys.
Additional diversion signage will also be in place on the A6124 as a result of the closure of the A68 slip roads at Fordel Mains Junction.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
All traffic management will be removed during daytime hours.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s Southeast Network Manager, said: “These investigation works will enhance drainage on this stretch of the A68, improving safety for motorists using the trunk road.
“This phase involves full road closures to allow our operatives to carry out the works safely, however we’ve scheduled them overnight to minimise any disruption.
“We thank road users and local communities in advance for their patience.”
