A7 LANGHOLM TO HAWICK ROUTE IMPROVEMENTS

  • Overnight closures between Langholm and Hawick 21 September – 5 October

The A7 is set benefit from improved road markings and studs, with improvement works scheduled for the nights of 21, 22 and 26 September, and 4 and 5 October.

The project will see Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland make improvements to the standard of road markings and road studs across this section.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as the travelling public the A7 will be closed at specific sections over the duration of the works detailed in the table below. The works will take place between the hours of 19:30 and 06:00 each night with no works planned for Saturday or Sunday nights.

A7 Teviothead to Hawick Thurs 21st to Fri 22nd September 19:30 – 06:00 Full road closure with a signed diversion. Road users are to leave the A7 at Hawick and follow the A6088, B6357 and B7201 to Canonbie. This diversion will add approximately 7.7 miles and 20 minutes onto affected journeys.
A7 Selkirk to Kingsknowe Tues 26th September 19:30 – 06:00 Full Road closure with a signed diversion. Road users are to leave the A7 at Kingsknowe Roundabout and follow the A6091, A68 and A699 to Selkirk. This diversion will add approximately 9.5 miles and 12 minutes onto affected journeys.
A7 Hawick to Selkirk Wed 4th to Thurs 5th October 19:30 – 06:00 Full Road closure with a signed diversion. Road users are to leave the A7 at Hawick/ Selkirk and follow the A698, A68 and A699. This diversion will add approximately 13.7 miles and 20 minutes onto affected journeys.

 

Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times and local access for residents within the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through the work area.

Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
