The A7 is set to benefit from an improved road surface, with a total of three nights of resurfacing works scheduled on Friday 2 June, Monday 5 June and Tuesday 6 June.
The works will see Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland resurface the A7 carriageway at Russell Place in Selkirk and Galalaw Roundabout in Hawick, creating smoother and safer journeys for motorists.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and the public during these works, the A7 will be closed from Kingsknowe Roundabout to Selkirk on the night of Friday 2 June, and then from Selkirk to Hawick on the nights of Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 June, between 19:30 and 06:00 each night. Local access will be permitted up to the point of the full closures.

Further works will be undertaken at the A7 Russell Place site on Monday 5 June, however the road will remain open with temporary traffic lights in place.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We’re pleased to be able to carry out these surfacing improvements on the A7 in Selkirk and Hawick.
“It is essential for safety that we close the road while work is taking place, however we’ve scheduled the works overnight to minimise disruption.
“If you do need to use the A7 on these nights, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.”
Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times and local access for residents within the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through the work area.
Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
