Please be advised that for operational reasons, an additional night of overnight closures of the A7 , north Ashkirk and Boleside, will be required to complete ongoing road surfacing improvements.
The works were scheduled to be complete by Friday 26th August, however to ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as the travelling public, the A7 will be closed between 19:30 and 06:00 on the night of Tuesday 23 August at Ashkirk, and on the nights of Wednesday 24, Friday 26 and Monday 29 August at Boleside.
For Ashkirk, traffic will be diverted off the A7 at Selkirk and follow the A699, A68T & A698 to Hawick. This diversion will add approximately 14 miles and 20 minutes to affected journeys.
For Boleside, traffic will be diverted off the A7 at Kingsknowe Roundabout and follow the A6091, A68 & A699 to Selkirk. This diversion will add approximately 9.6 miles and 12 minutes to affected journeys.
Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
All relevant stakeholders have been informed of the changes.

The A7 is set to benefit from an improved road surface, with a total of four nights of resurfacing works in two locations set to begin on Tuesday 23 August 2022.
The works will see Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland resurface approximately 1.6 kilometres of the A7, creating smoother and safer journeys for motorists.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as the travelling public, the A7 will be closed between 19:30 and 06:00 on the night of Tuesday 23 August at Ashkirk, and on the nights of Wednesday 24, Thursday 25 and Friday 26 August at Boleside.
On the night of 23 August a diversion will be signposted between Selkirk and Hawick, via the A699, A68 and A698. This diversion will add approximately 14 miles and 20 minutes to affected journeys.
On the nights of 24, 25 and 26 August a diversion will be signposted between Kingsknowe Roundabout and Selkirk, via the A6091, A68 and A699. This diversion will add approximately 9.6 miles and 12 minutes to affected journeys.
Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times and local access for residents within the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through the work area.
Emergency services and other relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
