Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is set to upgrade the bridge parapet and safety barriers on the A702 on the east side of the bridge over the Culter Water at Coulter.
The A702 at the bridge at Coulter will be fully closed in both directions from 22:00 until 05:00 on the nights of Saturday 17 February and Saturday 13 April, to allow for the installation and removal of temporary vehicle restraint barriers.
A diversion route for trunk road traffic will be signposted in both directions between Melbourne Crossroads and Maidencots Roundabout, via the A721, A70 and A73, adding an estimated 12 miles and 20 minutes to affected journeys.
The A702 at the bridge at Coulter will also be restricted to a single lane controlled by temporary traffic lights for seven weeks beginning on Sunday 18 February.
Chris Tracey, BEAR Scotland’s South East unit Bridges Manager, said: “We thank road users in advance for their patience during these essential bridge upgrade works. The new barriers we are installing will improve safety for motorists using the A702 through Coulter.
“If you need to travel during the closure on the nights of Saturday 17 February and Saturday 13 April, please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.”
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
