Overnight road closure with diversion will continue Sunday 19 May,7pm to 5am.
Transport Scotland are commissioning BEAR Scotland, to carry out £500k worth of essential surfacing improvements on the A82 near Auch, north of Tyndrum, to create a smoother and safer road for road users. Overnight road closures are necessary to ensure the safety of workers and motorists.
Carriageway resurfacing improvements started on the night of Wednesday 8 May and are now planned to finish on the morning of Friday 31 May, excluding Friday and Saturday nights. During the work period, the A82 will be closed in both directions between Tyndrum and Bridge of Orchy each night from 7pm to 5am.
During work hours, there will be a signed diversion route via the A85 and A828. This route adds approximately 36 minutes and 23 miles to the journey between Tyndrum and Ballachulish.
Emergency services, scheduled bus services and HGV’s over 4.2m high will be accommodated through the work area. Consultation with local communities had taken place.
The A82 will be open outside of working hours. However, a temporary speed limit of 30mph will be in place as traffic will be travelling on a temporary surface.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said, “These surfacing improvements on the A82 are necessary to address road defects and provide a much-improved driving experience for motorists. We understand that overnight road closures can be disruptive, but we have taken steps to minimise inconvenience by carrying out the work at night. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete this project.”
