The current second phase of resurfacing work on the A83 at the Rest and be Thankful is now scheduled to be completed on the morning of Friday 23 June 2023.
This phase, which involves resurfacing the road near the new roadside catchpit, was due to finish on Thursday 22 June but has been delayed by one night due to poor weather on Sunday. A further overnight diversion of traffic to the Old Military Road is needed to allow the work to be completed.
The Old Military Road will be used by all traffic, escorted by a convoy vehicle, between 7pm and 7am on the nights of Tuesday 20 June, Wednesday 21 June and Thursday 22 June. The A83, with traffic signals in place, will be used during the day when no works are taking place.
The final phases of resurfacing work, between the Rest and Be Thankful and Lower Glen Croe, will now start on Sunday 25 June and are expected to be complete by the morning of Tuesday 18 July. During these final phases, convoy operation will be implemented on the A83 between 7pm and 7am to allow works to be carried out overnight. During the day, when no works are taking place, temporary traffic signals will be used to allow vehicles to travel safely through the area being resurfaced. No works are currently planned to take place on Friday or Saturday nights.
Following the completion of all works, traffic management will be removed from the A83 at Rest and Be Thankful and the route returned to two way traffic.
BEAR Scotland thanks the community for their patience during these works and encourages motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.
These works are weather dependant and in the event of unforeseen weather conditions the above timescales for traffic management may have to be extended until works are completed.
Our team continues to have a presence on site and are monitoring conditions closely.
