Essential site inspections and investigations on a retaining wall on the A85 near the Glen Ogle viaduct viewpoint are scheduled to get underway next week.
As part of the project, specialist teams will inspect the existing retaining wall structure, situated south of the viewpoint, to inform the development of viable options for its replacement. Ground investigation works and inspections are also being conducted on the adjacent land to inform the design process.
The investigations are scheduled to start on Monday 22 February and will take approximately four weeks to complete.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and motorists, temporary traffic lights will be in place when inspections are being conducted, noting that the location of the retaining wall is close to the site of some slope stabilisation works that are also being carried out on this section of the A85.
Strict physical distancing protocols, in accordance with Scottish Government COVID-19 guidance, will be implemented to protect teams and ensure they remain safe at all times.
Commenting on the project, Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This project in Glen Ogle will inform our engineers on the condition of the existing retaining wall adjacent to the A85, and will provide important information on the stability of nearby ground that will inform a strategy for replacement of the structure.
“The traffic management is essential to protect our teams and road users whilst these works are undertaken and we will seek to carry our investigations as quickly as possible.
