Motorists using the A85 at Ruthvenfield in Perth are set to benefit from an improved road surface as a £270,000 maintenance project is set to get underway next week.
The project will see improvements to a section of A85 just over half a kilometre long, creating a safer and smoother journey for motorists
The project will get underway on Monday 5 October and is expected to take up to six nights to complete. The improvements will be carried out between 7pm and 5am each night, with works due to be completed by 5am Tuesday 13 October. No work is programmed to take place on Friday or Saturday night.
The A85 will remain open throughout the improvements however to keep everyone safe during the project a 10mph convoy system will be in overnight.
Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours to keep disruption to a minimum although a speed restriction of 30mph will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.
Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “This essential £270,000 surfacing project will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users.
“We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption by scheduling the project to take place overnight and avoiding working at the weekend, however our teams will do all they can to finish the project as quickly and safely as possible.
“We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan their journeys ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
