Motorists using the A86 are set to benefit from an improved road surface next month. Resurfacing works worth £210,000 will be completed at Creag Megaidh by BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland.
The improvements will involve resurfacing 800m of carriageway, making it more durable and resilient against inclement weather, as well as providing a safer road for drivers.
The works will be carried out from Monday 7th November to Friday 11th November between 7am and 7pm. No works will take place on Fridays or Saturdays. Traffic management will be removed outside working hours, but a 30mph speed limit will remain in place, as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.
There will still be access to Creag Megaidh National Nature Reserve, although motorists should expect there to be a delay at times due to surfacing works going past this junction. Those wishing to enter the car park will be asked to wait in a designated area, while those leaving will be asked to wait at the exit, until it is safe.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users.”
“We thank motorists for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
