The northbound off-slip from the A9 into Blackford is set to benefit from carriageway resurfacing improvements.
The £25,000 project will involve teams carrying out essential surfacing improvements and lining upgrading to the slip road, ensuring the integrity and safety of the trunk road network at this location.
The project is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 17 November between 7.30pm and 6.30am.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. For safety, the A9 Blackford northbound off-slip will also be closed overnight. Access into Blackford will be maintained with traffic being diverted around the island at the junction. Traffic exiting Blackford will be controlled by temporary traffic lights near Moray Street. The southbound access to Blackford will be closed, with traffic being diverted to Queen Victoria and back onto the northbound carriageway into Blackford. Traffic coming out of Blackford will still be able to use the crossover to access the A9 southbound carriageway.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing project to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: “This £25,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A9, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.
“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists during this project. To help minimise delays as much as possible, we’ve planned the improvements to take place overnight and our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.
“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A9. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
