Please be advised that the overnight maintenance works planned for the overbridges at the A9 Raigmore Interchange, outlined in the release below, have been postponed for a short period.

OVERNIGHT ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE ON A9 RAIGMORE INTERCHANGE

Work starts on Monday 16 November for three weeks

  • Overnight road closures in place for safety, 7pm to 7am

Essential maintenance is planned for the overbridges associated with the A9 Raigmore Interchange near Inverness, with works set to get underway next week.

The project will involve replacing existing bridge deck joints, which are crucial components to the continued safe operation of the structures in the years to come.

The project is scheduled to start on Monday 16 November and will take place at night over three weeks between 7pm and 7am, with work expected to be completed by Wednesday 2 December. No work is programmed for Saturday or Sunday nights.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, there will be phased overnight closures of the northbound and southbound carriageways with signed diversions through Raigmore Interchange Roundabout. The closures will allow safe working access to remove the existing bridge joints and fit replacements.

The dual carriageway will remain open during the daytime to keep disruption to a minimum.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in accordance with Scottish Government COVID-19 guidance, will be implemented to protect teams and ensure they remain safe at all times.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This essential project will allow our teams to safely replace the bridge joints on the A9 Raigmore Interchange overbridges, ensuring they remain safe in operation for years to come.

“The overnight road closures are essential, ensuring the safety of our workforce as well as motorists. We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption to motorists as much as possible by phasing the closures of each carriageway. We’ve also programmed the works to take place overnight and have avoided weekend working.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible and we thank road users for their patience in advance while we carry out these works. We would also encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
