A9 ROAD MARKING IMPROVEMENTS BETWEEN KINCRAIG AND CARRBRIDGE

August 19, 2024

  • Road marking works begin Monday 26 August for six weeks

  • Two way traffic lights with convoy between 7pm and 6am

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, plan to undertake essential road marking and road stud improvements on the A9 single carriageway between the Kincraig duals and the A938 Carrbridge junction from Monday 26 August for six weeks.

The work will remove and replace all white lines and studs over a 12km section of the A9, improving visibility and ensuring a safer journey for road users.

All improvements within this section are expected to be completed by 6am on Saturday 5 October.

Works will be carried out from 7pm to 6am to minimise disruption. There will be no works on Saturday and Sunday nights.

Two way traffic lights with a convoy system will be in use to protect the workforce and road users.

Junctions through the work site will either be controlled manually by an operative or by a third traffic light signal to control traffic joining the A9.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Consultation has taken place with stakeholders to make them aware of traffic management arrangements.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These road marking and road stud refresh works on the A9 will greatly improve visibility and safety for road users.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete the works.

“We encourage road users to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
