A road safety project on the A9 south of Greenloaning worth £100,000 is set to get underway next week.
The project will see improvements to the central reservation safety barrier between Balhaldie and Greenloaning, ensuring the integrity and safety of the trunk road network is maintained.
The safety improvements are programmed to begin on Monday 1 March and will take place over five days.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, a single lane closure will be in place continuously on the northbound and southbound carriageway throughout the duration of the project. A 50mph speed restriction will also be in place for safety.
Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government Covid-19 guidance, will be in place to ensure all site personnel remain safe once the project gets underway. Safe operation procedures and risk assessments have also been developed to ensure teams are kept safe throughout the project.
Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: “This £100,000 project will help improve road safety on the A9 in this area and will ensure the safety barriers continue to protect motorists for years to come.
“The traffic management is essential to keep the workforce and road users safe during this project as our teams will be working in the central reserve, however we will do all we can to complete the project as quickly and as safely as possible.
“We would like to thank motorists in advance for their patience during this project and advise them to plan ahead by checking Traffic Scotland for up to date journey information and leave some extra time to reach their destination.”
